Vivian Frazier

Vivian Frazier is pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Administration at the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs after recently earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Virginia Commonwealth University, with a concentration in Comparative Politics and minors in English and Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies. During undergraduate studies, Frazier developed a strong foundation in research and analysis through courses such as Research Methods, and is eager to apply those skills through work with the Research Institute for Social Equity (RISE).

Frazier is committed to advocating for and empowering marginalized communities through comprehensive analysis and evidence-based policy recommendations that lead to tangible outcomes. As Political Action Chair for the NAACP’s VCU chapter, Frazier built strong connections within the Richmond community through voter canvassing, community events, and participation in panel discussions.

Previous research includes quantitative work on the rise of right-wing populism and qualitative research exploring the impact of late-stage capitalism on democracy. Areas of passion include women’s rights, healthcare disparities—particularly the Black maternal mortality rate—mental health, education, environmental racism, and the protection of civil liberties.

Frazier is a Fellow of the Wilder Graduate Scholars Fellowship, a competitive program that places top full-time master’s students with host employers across the Richmond region.
